A witty, fast-moving romantic comedy set in London in 1593, follows the trials and tribulations of Will Shakespeare, a struggling young playwright suffering from a dreadful bout of writer's block. No matter how hard he tries, he just can't seem to make any headway with his latest work, "Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter." Somehow, even the title doesn't sound quite right. But then, Will meets and falls instantly in love with the startlingly beautiful Viola who, desperate to become an actor (in a time when women are not allowed to perform in the theater), disguises herself as a man to audition for his play. Inspired by love, Will's creative powers are unleashed as his great love story, "Romeo and Juliet," is brought to life for the first time.
Colin Firth has starred in movies such as Bridget Jones Diary and the sequel, Edge of Reason, as well as Love Actually, Hope Springs, Shakespeare in Love, Blackadder, the English Patient, and Pride and Prejudice to name a few. He is THE English romantic hero of the new century, ousting Hugh Grant in Bridget Jones. Very cute ;D Source: Ezthemes Size: (238 Kb)

This Brit-set period romantic comedy had been in the development stages since 1990, with star pairings ranging from the promising (Kenneth Branagh and Winona Ryder, currently displaying a nice rapport in Woody Allen's _Celebrity_) to the potentially ghastly (Daniel Day-Lewis and... accent-challenged Julia Roberts?!) attached. _Shakespeare_ has now finally arrived onscreen, and, I am glad to report, in the right hands--those of director John Madden and stars Joseph Fiennes and Gwyneth Paltrow.
