RACING STRIPES is a cute little movie of modest ambitions, aimed squarely at the youngsters in the audience. This live-action picture, about a zebra who wants to be a race horse, features a host of blabbermouth animals who, thankfully, are given plenty of cute things to say by their human screenwriter, first-timer David Schmidt. Typical of the witty words are: "They say his dad's a horse and his mom's a fence." and "Like my mama said, 'You can put your boots in the oven, but that won't make them biscuits.'"
